1983 O-Pee-Chee rip (part 2) – the results…

Okay, here’s the best of the best.  Unfortunately – I don’t think I pulled any PSA 10-worthy Gwynn’s…

1983 O-Pee-Chee OPC – Baseball rip – The Quest for a MINT Tony Gwynn rookie

It’s been a while since I’ve opened anything, so I had to pull the trigger recently on some boxes that I personally think are one of the best buys out there – 1983 OPC Baseball.  It’s a small set and your chances of pulling both the Gwynn & Sandberg rookies are very strong.  In fact, you’re likely to pull more than one of each in every box.  BBCE sells these boxes for $70 a pop – so I dove in deep.  I’m not going to video tape these rips, as it’s going to take a while to get through everything – but I plan to scan in any nice hits.

Scans to follow this evening, wish me luck!

PackGeek rip #18 – (2) 1966 O-Pee-Chee Baseball wax packs

These packs didn’t survive long at the GeekPad, way too much temptation for my lack of willpower.  As it turns out – there were only four cards/pack, as opposed to five, as I had previously thought.  Oh well – let’s rip…

A package arrived in the mail today…

My mail is usually pretty boring – lots of sale flyers, bills and an occasional magazine.  Today’s mail was different…  I had a small, but well packaged box from a business in the Chicago area.  It’s not just any business, its the Baseball Card Exchange – the mecca of all things unopened…and awesome.  After tearing through a few layers of packaging, I was greeted with a glorious vision…

Two unopened wax packs of 1966 O-Pee-Chee Baseball, courtesy of Steve Hart and the good folks at BBCE.  And with this latest arrival – I’ll be pursuing Pull Goal #5 – a 1966 OPC Mickey Mantle!!

PackGeek rip #17 – (2) 1970 O-Pee-Chee Baseball wax packs

I had so much fun ripping into the last batch of Canadian wax, that I decided to dive a little bit deeper into the baseball card history books – and try some 1970 OPC wax packs on for size.  Key hits from this release would be Reggie Jackson, Thurman Munson rookie, Roberto Clemente, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Nolan Ryan, etc.  They’re all in there  Now lets pull a few!

PackGeek rip #16 (2) 1971 O-Pee-Chee Baseball vintage wax packs

Greetings pack rippers!  Today we’ll be tearing into some vintage Canadian wax.  Recently purchased from the Baseball Card Exchange, we have two beautifully kept packs of 1971 O-Pee-Chee Baseball (Series 3).  Key hits in this series are the Steve Garvey rookie, Brooks Robinson & Joe Morgan.  Let’s see if we can’t find some Canadian gold in here.

PackGeek rip #15 (2) 1979-80 Topps Hockey wax packs

It’s been a while, so PackGeek needed to come back with a bag…or a rip as it were.  Today we’re going to be ripping into two smoking hot unopened packs of 1979-80 Topps Hockey – recently purchased from the mecca of all unopened products – the Baseball Card Exchange.  The geek is in search of a minty fresh Wayne Gretzky rookie.  Let’s see if he can find one…
